Wrestling Beginnings

Andy loved professional wrestling from the time he was 6-years-old. He was introduced to it on TV, shortly after Vince McMahon senior started airing wrestling on TV. It didn’t take long for Andy to be more interested in the “bad” guy than the good guy who the whole crowd was rooting for.

Andy’s favorite wrestler was Buddy Rogers. One of Andy’s dreams come true, was when Buddy Rogers served as Andy’s manager when Andy defeated his opponent on SNL on December 22, 1979. Andy wrote the following story one year later, about his wrestling idol, Nature Boy Buddy Rogers. The story appears in Andy’s “Poetry and Stories” book, published posthumorously by Zilch Publishing.
